I want to wish everyone a Happy New Years Eve! Your holidays should include no less than Champagne, Mimosas, and be somewhere in public so that you can grab a member of the opposite sex and kiss in the bliss at the stroke of midnight! And oh yeah please use the services of a cab or designated driver. I'd think we all should know better by now any way right! Please have fun but be safe about it!
Work today is boring. I've caught up with everything. I have been recieving calls but all want to schedule for after the holidays. Can you blame them? After all who really wants to fuss with the computer during the holiday? Well, besides me :)
Tip #6 - Get a Notebook and Keep it by Your Computer (make it a New Years Resolution)
This really is the best thing I have ever done. When you make a change to your settings, install/uninstall software, sign up for a online website, buy something online, download a file, virus scan, defragment, run an update, etc... put all the information in there! Use a notebook and write it. Don't try to make a text file to keep because speaking from experience you will not keep it up. And don't put sensitive information such as passwords in this book. This is should be like a ledger with dates, actions, reasons, and results. Also if you have more than one person on the same computer it should also show the person who performed the action. You may think of this as silly but this will save you many times over! You may want to undo a setting but couldn't remember where you changed it in the first place or maybe it could help you identify a incompatible application or problem causing update. System Administrators at large companies use this same method.
